Midnight Twilight Log #1
Adam | Project Midnight4 Sep 2011
It’s early in the production schedule for “Midnight Twilight” but I’m feeling confident that the finished product will turn out amazing. I’ve already managed to get a very high quality production team for it and I’ll be putting a lot more emphasis on polishing my art to match my writing talent.
The quality will be different than the animated series that much is certain. Stylistically there will be some small differences for the sake of improvement and just for it to look good. My mentality with this project is much much different then it is with the anime series. With the episodic SH anime series I’ve always put getting an episode out over the quality. I’ve used it as a learning experience to get familiar with animating in Flash and to experiment. Each episode there is always improvement but I’m wrapped up in so many things that I sacrifice a lot just to get an episode out in a timely fashion. I’m well aware of my full potential as an artist and that it takes time and effort to show it, unfortunately the anime series probably only has about 20% of my full potential going in. I cut corners since I’m doing everything on my own, but with the movie it’s not like that. I have people helping me out that are professional animators that just know more than I do. In a sense this movie project is my schooling, I already went to school for English when I really wanted to go for art, so this is going to make up for it.
Here are some early play around rough frames, the difference in quality is already extremely noticeable.
The script is probably about 40% done and should be finished in the coming weeks.
I’m going to be doing weekly blog updates on the status of the movie project. Most of the early ones will namely deal with casting and production team assignments as well as script updates.
The anticipated straight to DVD release is sometime in the late summer/fall of 2012.
